Subsurface Utility Map Data Exchange
SUMDEx will employ
FuzionView, a free bi-directional data exchange software application developed to allow North American utility owners to quickly and securely share asset location information with authorized users. FuzionView was developed by SharedGeo under the direction and guidance of Gopher State One Call.
SUMDEx's goal is to improve the safety of workers, the public, and the environment in North America and beyond.

The SUMDEx Team has over ninty utility and damage prevention industry experts representing over fifty North American firms, Research Institutions, NGOs, and State, Provincial, and Federal Government Departments.
The Solution
SUMDEx is powered by the FuzionView application. FuzionView utilizes the one-call ticket as a spatial filter, enabling authorized users to request geospatial files that display utility locations within an area of interest.
This free system creates a temporary digital map that displays all buried infrastructure within the ticketed area, using the same scale, datum, and geoid, thereby enabling field personnel to have unprecedented situational awareness.
SUMDEx General process outline
The Integrated One Call Process
Designers and Excavators initiate a One Call ticket to start the process.
The One Call Center sends the ticket to notify affected Utility Owners.
Utility Owners respond with a “clear” or by sending data files covering the ticketed area to the One Call Center.
Designers, SUE firms, and Locate Service Providers receive the FuzionView conflated map data.
The data is collected in the field electronically and sent to the client who requested the ticket.
The field data collected is also submitted to each appropriate Utility Owner.
The Utility Owner can confirm the accuracy of their legacy records and investigate/update them as needed.
